Formbags has been recognised in the Success Stories category at SMAU Milano for its pioneering collaboration with Opseed, the Italian AI startup focused on manufacturing innovation.
At its Formigine (MO) production facility, Formbags faced a familiar industry challenge: a heterogeneous fleet of mechanical and electromechanical machinery requiring specialist expertise, combined with the retirement of long-serving operators whose technical knowledge risked being lost. Seeking a scalable solution, Formbags partnered with Opseed to support operator autonomy and digitally preserve the company’s accumulated know-how.
Opseed’s platform enables operators to enter production data, report issues and record solutions in natural language using a tablet. This information is instantly combined with automated line data, giving management real-time visibility over output, downtime and root-cause analysis. Formbags also collaborated with Opseed to refine the interface, ensuring it integrates seamlessly into daily workflows.
The impact has been significant. Formbags has gained stronger control over processes, improved data-driven decision-making, and established a growing digital knowledge base that transforms experience into a shared organisational resource. Operators have responded positively to the system’s intuitive, voice-ready design, while the platform has strengthened collaboration across production teams.
The SMAU award highlights Formbags’ progress toward a more efficient, connected and resilient manufacturing environment. Following the successful pilot, the company is preparing to extend the system across additional production lines.
